ESTATE ADMINISTRATION

Make an Appointment with Maxwell Lancaster Solicitors

Being an executor of an estate can be a daunting process.  While you may want to do the right thing by the person that has passed away, family members may be pressuring you, while you are still grieving the loss of a loved one.

Maxwell & Lancaster offers a confidential, compassionate and efficient estate administration service for executors throughout the Warwick region and across Queensland.  Generations of families have come to know and trust our firm as the kind, guiding hand they need to help them manage the affairs of departed friends and family.

Experienced and Efficient Administration

We rely on our years of experience to cut down the time and red tape involved in winding up someone’s affairs and ensuring the execution of their wishes.  We’re used to dealing with banks, insurance companies, utility companies and other organisations that need to be informed of the deceased estate.  We ensure that these parties have proper instruction on what to do with the assets and any liabilities.

This isn’t a time to try to “go it alone”.  The right advice and guidance will ensure an efficient and cost-effective process.  We work with you to share the load.  You can take care of the personal items and we’ll deal with the difficult things like probate, finances and the paperwork.

At our first meeting we will give you a clear picture of the work that we will do, what you need to take care of, and the costs and processes involved.  We will assist you through this difficult task and minimise the stress involved.

Estate Disputes

Unfortunately, disputes may arise over the assets of an estate.  In some instances, a Will may be poorly drafted this can lead to situations where a legitimate beneficiary is not treated fairly.

If you are concerned about how the assets of an estate are being distributed and you believe you will not receive your fair share, we encourage you to please contact us.

Time limits apply when making a claim against an estate which may mean you cannot make a claim if you wait too long.

We can advise you whether you have a valid claim, and if so how you should proceed.  In the event of a dispute we will work with you, the executors of the estate and their solicitors to reach a negotiated settlement.  Going to Court is a last resort that we recommend only when all other avenues have been exhausted.

We encourage you to call and talk to one of Maxwell & Lancaster’s team members if you are an executor of an estate, or a potential beneficiary who may need to make a claim about your estate administration matter.  Our experience will get you through this difficult time and make sure your legal entitlements are protected.
